Almond Butter Date Bites

Dates (majool dates specifically) are one of those things recommended at the end of pregnancy to help thin your cervix and hopefully bring labour on more quickly.

Who knows if it actually works, but when you’re at the tail end of the third trimester (or two weeks overdue like I was!), you’ll try anything!

You can make as many or as few of these as you like, so adjust the ingredients to suit.

Instructions + ingredients

  • Punnet of majool dates (often in the refrigerator section by the fresh produce

  • Brazil nuts

  • Almond butter

  • Dark chocolate

  • Chopped nuts

  1. Open up the majool dates (they should already be pitted when you buy them

  2. Spread a bit of almond butter into the date

  3. Pop one Brazil nut on top of the almond butter

  4. Melt some dark chocolate, I do this with a hot water bath (glass bowl over a saucepan of simmering water)

  5. Drizzle the chocolate over the dates to cover time

  6. Sprinkle with nuts before the chocolate sets

Put them in the fridge for an hour to set well.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

They are so yum. My partner was really enjoyed them too, I had to stop him from finishing them all!
